Her supplication seeking descent of table spread from the heavens for Progeny of Muhammad (a.s.)
It is narrated from Ibne Abbas, in a lengthy traditional report that when once the Holy Prophet (s.a.w.a.) came to the house of Lady Fatima Zahra (s.a.) he found her pale faced and her eyes sunken. He asked: My dearest one, why are you so pale and emaciated?
She replied: We have not eaten since the last three days. He offered some advice and Fatima went into the room and prayed two units of prayer; and then raising her hands to the heavens said:
اِلٰهِيْ وَ سَیِّدِیْ، هٰذَا مُحَمَّدٌ نَبِیُّكَ، وَ هٰذَا عَلِیٌّ اِبْنُ عَمِّ نَبِیِّكَ، وَ هٰذَانِ الْحَسَنُ وَالْحُسَیْنُ سِبْطَا نَبِیِّكَ۔
اِلٰهِيْ اَنْزِلْ عَلَيْنَا مَائِدَةً مِنَ السَّمَاءِ كَمَا اَنْزَلْتَهَا عَلٰي بَنِیْ اِسْرَائِیْلَ اَكَلُوْا مِنْهَا وَ كَفَرُوْا بِهَا، اَللّٰهُمَّ اَنْزِلْهَا عَلَیْنَا فَاِنَّا بِهَا مُؤْمِنُوْنَ۔
According to another report
اَللّٰهُمَّ اِنَّ فَاطِمَةَ بِنْتَ نَبِيِّكَ قَدْ اَضَرَّ بِهَا الْجُوْعُ، وَ هٰذَا عَلِیُّ بْنُ اَبِیْ طَالِبٍ اِبْنُ عَمِّ نَبِیِّكَ قَدْ اَضَرَّ بِهِ الْجُوْعُ، فَاَنْزِلِ اللّٰهُمَّ عَلَیْنَا مَائِدَۃً مِنَ السَّمَاءِ، كَمَا اَنْزَلْتَهَا عَلٰي بَنِیْ اِسْرَائِیْلَ فَكَفَرُوْا، وَ اِنَّا مُؤْمِنُوْنَ۔
Ibne Abbas said: The supplication had not yet concluded when a tray of food came down from above her.
Another supplication
It is narrated from Imam Ja’far Sadiq (a.s.) from his father from his grandmother that she said: Hasan and Husain fell severely ill, so the chief of the descendants of Adam visited them - in a lengthy tradition – and she said:
يَا اِلٰهَ مُحَمَّدٍ، هٰذَا مُحَمَّدٌ نَبِيُّكَ، وَ فَاطِمَةُ بِنْتُ نَبِيِّكَ، وَ عَلِيٌّ خَتَنُ نَبِيِّكَ وَ ابْنُ عَمِّهٖ، وَ هٰذَانِ الْحَسَنُ وَ الْحُسَيْنُ سِبْطَيْ نَبِيِّكَ۔
اَللّٰهُمَّ فَاِنَّ بَنِيْ اِسْرَائِيْلَ سَاَلُوْكَ اَنْ تُنْزِلَ عَلَيْهِمْ مائِدَةً مِنَ السَّمَاءِ فَاَنْزَلْتَهَا عَلَيْهِمْ وَ كَفَرُوْا بِهَا، اَللّٰهُمَّ فَاِنَّ اٰلَ مُحَمَّدٍ لَا يَكْفُرُوْنَ بِهَا۔
