ARAFAT
Arafat is a favorable and a vast desert 21 Kms to the north of Mecca, which is outside the boundaries of the sanctuary. Arafat is that land where Adam and Hawwa were reunited after a prolonged separation, and where they became familiar with each other. Arafat is that land where Adam confessed to his Tark-e-Awla.
Arafat is that land where supplications are accepted. Mt. Arafat is also called the Mount of Mercy. It was at the side of this mountain that I. Husain (a) recited the Supplication of Arafat.
Halting at Arafat is one of the obligatory rituals of the Hajj. The recommended deeds with regard to this have already been mentioned.
