MEDINA - RECOMMENDED DEEDS OF THE PROPHET'S MOSQUE

1. To perform the Ghusl for entering the Prophet's mosque and doing the Ziyarat of the Imams of Baqi. One can perform a single ghusl with intention of all.

2. Staying in Medina: The writer of 'Jawaher' says that there is no difference of opinion as regards staying in Medina Munawwara and its service.

3. It is recommended (Mustahab) that one should keep three fasts in Medina Munawwara with the intention of fulfillment of needs. It is better to keep fasts on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. It is also better to pray near the pillar of Abu Lubaabah on Wednesday night and at the pillar opposite to this on Thursday night and at the pillar near the Prophet's Mehraab in the day and night of Friday. One should also supplicate Allah for one's legitimate desires, and recite the prayer mentioned after the Prophet's Ziyarat.

4. It is recommended to complete the recitation of more than one Quran in Medina, specially one should recite Quran in the Prophet's mosque.

5. It is recommended to give alms (sadaqah) in the Prophet's mosque according to ones needs. The Late Majlisi (r.a.) has narrated that one Dirham given in Sadaqah in Medina equals 1000 Dirhams given elsewhere. On the basis of this one should not fall short in helping brothers in faith, especially the Sayyids and the descendants of the Prophet (s.a.w.a.)

6. One should exercise precaution in ones behaviour, consider time valuable and as far as possible recite prayers. Specially one should recite prayers in the Prophet's mosque because one rakat prayed therein equals 1000 rakats prayed elsewhere, with the exception of Masjidul Haram (in Mecca). The best place to pray is at the Prophet's tomb.

7. One should recite salawat at the time of entering and leaving the Mosque.

8. As soon as one enters the Mosque, one should recite two rakats prayer of honoring the Mosque.

9. One should recite the Ziyarat of the Holy Prophet (s.a.w.a.) on behalf of ones parents, friends and relatives.

10. As mentioned before, after the Ziyarat, perform two rakats namaz of Ziyarat and gift its reward to the Prophet )s.a.w.a.(.

11. Standing near the grave of the Prophet (s.a.w.a.) we should praise Allah and supplicate.

12. Pray at the place of Jibraeel (a) and supplicate.

13. As far as possible pray in the Prophet's Mehraab.

14. Do not raise your voice in the Mosque.

15. Perform 2 rakats prayer near the pillar of Abu Lubaabah and supplicate.

16. To pray in the Prophet's (a) tomb and in the same way in the house of Fatemah Zahra )s.a.( and to supplicate therein is recommended. If it is not possible to pray at these places one should do it at a nearest place to it as possible.
